Your Words Have Power: How I Changed My Dialogue and My Journey!

This year has been a wild one for me — full of challenges, growth, and some very personal battles. I’ve been on my own journey to start a family, and I quickly learned that it’s not always as simple as people think.

Sometimes, “just doing the deed” isn’t enough.

After two years on hormone treatments, my body changed in ways I didn’t expect. I gained weight — a lot of it. At first, I accepted it as part of the journey, believing it was for a greater purpose and a beautiful outcome. But as time went on, I became frustrated, uncomfortable, and unhappy in my own skin. I obsessed over the weight gain, over clothes that no longer fit, over how “wrong” my body felt.

And here’s the thing — nothing I tried worked. The harder I pushed, the more I focused on the negatives, the worse it seemed to get. Until one day, I realised something: my words were working against me.

So, I changed them.

I started speaking to my body with kindness. I began thanking it — for carrying me through life, for enduring treatments, for standing by me through every twist and turn. I told myself: I am healthy. I am whole. My body is amazing. Every day, I spoke affirmations out loud. I reminded myself that my body wasn’t my enemy — it was my partner in this journey.

Slowly, something shifted. My relationship with my body softened. I saw her as my best friend. I built her up. I expressed gratitude for how far we’d come together, and excitement for the adventures ahead.

And the results? My mindset changed, and so did my body. I felt lighter — emotionally and physically. My energy improved.

My self-worth grew.

Now, I believe this more than ever: our words have power. If you’re struggling with how you see your body, change your dialogue.

Replace I am fat, I am sick, or I am unhealthy with I am healed, I am strong, I am grateful for the movement I have. For me, I’ve added I am fertile to my list.

Every day, my body and I have a positive chat. Because when you think about it — your body fights for you every single day, keeping you alive, carrying you forward. It’s time we fight for her too.
